The Favicon- a simple little feature to make your site look that little bit more professional. This is not a long tutorial, I would say it took me under an hour to design and add my favicon to the site. Even if you are not completing all of the tasks or using a different blog theme this can still be done easily, so no excuses!
Thanks to this easy piece of code it was a well needed early night for me!
First create or generate a favicon using this website or in photoshop. The image needs to be 16 by 16 pixels.
Next add the favicon to your media in WordPress.
Add this piece of code to your header underneath the opening <head> tag:
<link rel="icon" type="image/png" href="/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/favicon.png">
Your type of image will match the file type of your icon, for example here it is type=”image/png” because it is a .png file. It could be a type=”image/ico” if it is a .ico file.
